How do fat dissolving injections work?
Aqualyx is a water-based solution that is injected into the fatty tissue. It surrounds the cells and destroys them, the remains of the fat cells are then excreted by the body safely as waste.
Fat dissolving injection in the face
As we age, fat pads in the face diminish and cause the skin to sag, causing jowls to develop. Frequently the jowls contain fatty deposits that can be removed to restore a more youthful face shape and attractive contour.
Additionally, patients may also have fatty areas in other areas of the face that they are unhappy with such as double chins and fat around the jawline. Aqualyx can be used to reduce any fatty part of the face.
Treatments on the facial area usually require 1 to 3 treatments to achieve desired results.
Fat dissolving injection in the body
We must make it very clear that Aqualyx is not a substitute for a healthy diet and exercise, and cannot solve being overweight. However it is obviously of significant interest to people who have stubborn body fat. The treatment is for stubborn areas of fat that are resistant to diet and exercise.
For example; a perfect candidate for fat dissolving injections may be a mother who has been left with abdomen fat after giving birth that isn’t reducing even when exercising. Or, a person with a slender frame who struggles to reduce fat from inner thighs or hips.
Other very common areas of concern that people would like treating are “bingo wings”, knees, hips, back, waist, and bum.
Treatments on the body usually require 2 to 5 sessions , 4 weeks apart, to achieve optimum results.
The Procedure
You will have an in-depth consultation with our Advanced Practitioner Sam Wrigley, to discuss your areas of concern and what outcomes/expectations you have for the treatment. A treatment plan will be devised with your practitioner during the consultation. Following the consultation, you can choose to rebook for another time or go ahead with your treatment.
Local anaesthetic will be used to numb the area prior to treatment. The procedure will take 15-30 minutes, and is not uncomfortable or painful in the face, however body treatments can be slightly uncomfortable. This will depend on your own individual pain threshold as with all aesthetic treatments.
Once the treatment is finished, you will experience some swelling, this will diminish over the next few days, or weeks in some cases. Results will begin to show after two weeks and continue to improve for up to 8 weeks.
Are fat dissolving injections right for you?
We do not advocate using fat dissolving injections as an alternative to living a healthy lifestyle and exercising regularly. It is also not a substitute for liposuction. Occasionally, a patient may not be suitable; if you are not right for Aqualyx this will be discussed at your consultation. It is rare that a patient will be unsuitable for facial treatments, results are proving to be amazing!
